Getting Cozy with the chicks- edit

Just introducing our "get social" protocol for new chicks

I'm so impressed with both kids. Ark Boy is happy to hold the chicks (and the chicks are thankfully quick to cheep when they are being held a little too tight) and Farm Girl is a little nervous about holding them, but also gentle when she works up the nerve.

I'm so glad I can see the pics now! They are so great. I decided I wanted to start with chicks after reading your posts but Warren wants to start with layers because he thinks it will be easier. I'll win though :)

we went back and forth on that too. I really wanted chicks because I feel like we can tame them when we're all over them every day. Josh wanted layers. In the end we found chicks we wanted (I really wanted aracaunas). Yeah, you're feeding them for longer, bu they cost less initially and I think the price you pay in food is worth it.
